The Top 10 Tips for Grooms to Prepare for the Wedding Day

Weddings are often said to be more about the bride than the groom. That doesn’t have to be the case as there are plenty of things you groom can do to get prepared. You do not get to sit back and just wait for the wedding day to roll around unless, of course you intend to be in the doghouse before the wedding bells even rang.

Therefore, if you want to keep your bride-to-be happy and you from being in trouble, try getting involved with the wedding. Here you will find some of the top tips to help you be the best groom you can be and please your bride at the same time.

1. Give her a break

Want to look like the best groom in the history of grooms? Give your bride to be a night off from wedding planning. Offer to cook her dinner, give her a massage, or sit and watch your favorite movie together. Your bride is probably stressed out as the wedding day draws closer and the fact that you notice enough to want to give her a break will be significant Kudo points for you.

2. Share your opinion

This is your wedding day also. It only stands to reason that you should have an idea of how you want your wedding day to go. What interests you most? The music? The cake? Whichever part of the wedding day interests you most, get involved and share your opinions. Your bride will be fine with you having an idea of what you want your wedding to be. She may also be thrilled that you are willing to get involved.

3. Don’t let her control everything

Really, don’t let your bride push you over to get what she alone wants. You may find that as she picks things for the registry or as she designs the wedding, there may be things you don’t like. Speak up and let her know that you have an opinion also, and your idea of a great wedding day isn’t all balloons and rainbows. You may think it is easier just to give her exactly what she wants, but this day is important to you too. Be apart of it and don’t relinquish all control to her.

4. Pick your groomsmen gifts

Picking the gifts for your men doesn’t have to be a tedious task. You may find it difficult to

choose the right gifts, and that is where you can learn from articles like this one. You know your buddies best and it is up to you to find the right gifts for them. If you are looking for other options, you can check out a high quality groomsmen gifts site to get more specific ideas.

5. Help pick out registry items

If you don’t like the color yellow and you certainly don’t want flowers coming off of every décor piece in your home, then you want to get involved in the registry. She may not be that overbearing with the décor choices, but you want to have a say in what types of things go on the wedding registry. There are many articles on the dos and don’ts when filling out the registry like this one that can help you do it right.

6. Be sentimental

Your wedding day is the best day to be sentimental. Therefore, before it arrives, plan to have a special gift sent to her before she walks down the aisle. There are many gift options you can choose from, and articles like this one can help you narrow it down to find the right gift for her. Give her the added love she needs in the midst of the wedding morning stress.

7. Arrange groomsmen attire

The men are your responsibility. You know what you are going to wear and you want to make sure you men are going to suit your style. Therefore, make sure to send them a detailed explanation of what the formal wear is and how you want it worn. Let them know where they can go for tuxes and, if rented, to return them the next day. If choosing a bow tie for yourself and the men, opt for pre-tied, unless you are certain your guys know how to tie their own bow tie. If you haven't learned how to tie a bow tie, don't expect the wedding day to learn how and don't assume someone else can do it for you. Let your bride know that you have the groomsmen attire all under control so she doesn’t need to worry.

8. Get help if needed

If your bride to be is at the end of her rope, enlist help. You can get help from friends, family, or, if the budget allows, hire a wedding planner for the day of the wedding. You don’t have to shoulder everything yourself. If you find that help is necessary, feel free to reach out and get it. There is no shame. You want to enjoy your wedding day and she should get too. Therefore, swallow your pride and get help where needed.

9. Don’t complain

Trying to arrange the seating chart at the wedding is always a struggle. There are bound to be people who don’t get along with others, and it can be a hassle to get the seating just right. If she starts to complain about her family, don’t use it as an opportunity to tell her everything about her family you don’t like. She won’t remember what they were doing to make her upset, but she will remember your words. Play it safe, offer to help her, agree with what she is saying, but do not add your personal opinion when it comes to her family. There is a time and place for that, planning the wedding isn’t it.

10. Be willing to get in the middle

Weddings bring out the best and worst in moms. When you and your bride are planning your wedding, your mom may want to get involved. She should be involved, but she shouldn’t drive your bride to be crazy. Therefore, if your well-intentioned mom calls a bit too much, be willing to get between her and your bride. Let her know that you have everything under control, not to worry and keep the peace.
